SAHARA Babes in the Woods 42″x 59″
I had 12″ left of each of the 5 prints from the EBB TIDE quilt that I made with fabric given to us by Timeless Treasures. It was just enough to cut 8 each of the pieces for SAHARA. Again I was afraid of how light and busy the prints are. I figured I might have to add a lattice strip between each row. But that would have made the quilt too long or left me with extra pieces. So I went ahead and just sewed it together, and it worked–probably because the background squares are half the size of the bricks. That gives quite a bit of breathing room. I do like how the 5 prints worked, and will try it again with 1/3 yard cuts. It will be good too see how the 5 print repeat looks in fabrics with more contrast. An interesting secondary pattern might show up, or it might be awkward.
